Altermeta Daily User Journal 2018 Edition
« on: March 30, 2018, 06:13:05 PM »

A couple of months late in getting this started for folks.

Let's see, I've been doing good, health is in pretty good order. I'm going to be getting married this year in October. I'm happy, work is going pretty well. My fiance and I are  working on some projects (a card game and two RPG games). In our spare time we are also working on a 1975 Nomad camper. It's a bit rough in places, so that project is going to take some time, but once it is ready, we are wanting to take some time and do some traveling.

Outside of all that, I still write here and there. My Altermeta fan fiction story is currently on hiatus. I suspect once Noben restarts the comic and reestablishes the comic and characters, I'll do some reworking and fix anything that may no longer be canon. I like what I have thus far and I really want to get the story I started finished. I do have an ending planned that will wrap up my character's arcs and move them on forward. I even have some follow up ideas for where to go after that.

I'm not going to lie, I miss how busy this group used to be. I don't know that it will ever regain its forward momentum or not, but I am hopeful.

I hope everyone out there who is part of the AM community is well and doing fine.

May the Wind be at thy Wings.

Easter/April Fools Day was spent with my Fiance's family. I even got to dye a couple of eggs too. We had a very tasty beef stew. Unfortunately the weather was rather cold and damp and everyone stayed indoors. Not the exact optimal outcome you want when you have two hyperactive boys just under ten in the household. Last time we went down, I took my laser tag blasters and we all had some fun playing that.

We are all getting slowly older, time becomes more and more scarce and precious.

But it doesn't take a lot of time to do a little catching up.
I am hoping that getting some activity back on the boards might perhaps revitalize some interest for folks.

Despite my thoughts, once I went through and re-read some of my existing AM fanfic work, ideas started to form.
So I've been working on things again. shrug
I've been thinking on some things with my own fiction that may not fall in line with the AM cannon regarding certain characters. I have been deciding if I should just keep things as written and just allow for the fact that perhaps I'm working in a very slightly different setting. (I.E. Someone lives in a different place, nothing more).

In light of what Dreaker has shared:
I'm working at the helpdesk of a Local Telephone/ISP/TV provider these days.
We play a Star Wars RPG game.
Aside from a different video card and a second XEON server CPU chip, my PC is much the same as it has been for the last several years. It can run No Man's Sky on very high video settings.

Life is good.

My AK fanfic will be on hiatus until we see how AM lore turns out.

Well, hopefully we will find out soon and not have to wait too long for your fanfic's return!

These days I check the forum every once in a random while.

Didn't really need the stuff on sale for Black Friday. Bought stuff anyway. Oh well.
"But, but, I still check the forum..."

Got married in October (the second time), things are awesome.
Still working at the helpdesk.
Playing Fallout 76 with my wife and we enjoy the heck out of it so far.
Working on various stories in little spurts. My writing isn't a constant as much as I wish it were.
Some days I have the desire to write and I just sit and blank out. Nothing.
In the last week or so, I've been working on the AM fanfiction story. I'm going through and updating a few little things here or there to better fit some of the little changes Noben has made, but chances are even if she re-works the world/setting to include more magic as it has been discussed, I may well keep my current fiction set in the original setting.
That said, once the new setting gets established, I may well work on a new story that fits in.
I hope everyone is well. I'm sorry I've not been on discord of late. Just a lot going on.
Once 2019 rolls in I'm sure one of us will get the ball rolling on the daily journal thread.

2018 report:
Last 3 month job had a temporary improvement.
Friend broke up  with toxic GF. With friends we managed to keep him together.
Started D&D with friends. It's fun. Sadly we can't do as often as we like.
Soon I get my PC boosted over the roof.
Still doing writing. Not as often I would like too.

Also working on an RPG. Like building it. Making the world, designing a system.... Not sure.
